The Hong Kong Nutritionists Society was founded by a group of practicing Nutritionists and experienced professionals in Hong Kong. We share the vision that proper nutrition is of utmost importance in preventive healthcare and development for a healthier community, and believe that a proper registration system in the Nutritionist profession can assure the public to receive reliable nutritional services from qualified Nutritionists.
The HKNS is governed by the Council, which combines of practicing Nutritionists and lay-persons who are professionals/experienced administrators from different fields.
The Council is responsible for the overall governance of the HKNS, formulation of direction and policy, and decision-making on important issues. The Council consists of various committees / working groups to perform major duties including professional registration and register management, education and training, setting and upholding professional standard and maintaining continuing competence, detecting and dealing with professional misconduct and poor performance, risk assessment and management.
Each committee / working group is accountable to the Council and assists in implementation of the policy.
To ensure the professionalism and integrity of practicing Nutritionists, registrants of the HKNS should comply with the professional Code of Practice as set by the HKNS. All complaints against registrants of the HKNS will be investigated by the Council.
